Guide to completing a virtual (self) home survey

Before we can install your charger, we need to gather some information about your home and your electrical set up. These help us plan a smooth installation.

Completing the survey takes around 20 minutes, however it is not unusual to get a little stuck. Don't worry! We're here to help. We will monitor progress of your survey and Cord, or one of our trusted approved installer partners will contact you to support.

In this article we've published some tips to help complete your virtual home survey.

Best practice for taking pictures and videos:

We'll need a few photos of where you park your vehicle and fusebox (consumer unit), so we recommend taking photos during the daytime or in good lighting. This means we can easily see all the information we need and won't cause delays.

What’s my MPAN and how do I find it?

A MPAN number is a unique number that identifies your supply of home energy. We need this so we can inform your DNO (Distribution Network Operator) that we intend to install an EV charger at your address - this is a regulatory requirement. It's usually easy to find - it'll be on a recent energy bill. If you can't find it, give your energy company a call and they'll be able to help.

Where is my incoming power supply?

The location of this will be different in every property - it may be inside near your consumer unit (fusebox), or outside. It's usually located beside your electricity meter.

What is gas and water bonding and where do I find it?

Having gas and water bonding in place is a critical, regulatory requirement in order to install an EV charger. It can sometimes be a little tricky to find - please see our guide here

Can you do it for me?

Of course! We do offer the option for a surveyor to come and visit your property and complete this on your behalf. Please contact us if you decide this is a better option for you.
