Connect your Cord charger to the new Cord app. Read our step-by-step guide.
Before You Begin
- Locate Safety Device: Find the safety/isolation device for your EV charger circuit. This is usually near your fuse board or electric meter. It will be a dedicated RCBO (Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent protection) installed for the EV charger.
- PIN: Retrieve the PIN number from your charger's "accessories bag."
- Charger Wi-Fi Password: Have your charger's Wi-Fi password ready.
- Serial Number: Note down your charger's serial number (it starts with "SN" followed by a series of characters).
Step 1 - connect to charger's local Wi-Fi network
- Switch your smartphone or tablet to airplane mode.
- Reboot the power of the charger and ensure the status light is flashing yellow or green. This indicates that the network is ready to connect.
- Please note that the network configuration setting is only accessible 15 minutes after the power reboot.
- Switch your smartphone Wi-Fi on and connect to the chargers’ Wi-Fi network. Its network name will begin with ‘SN100…’, this will match the charger’s serial number which can be found on the side of the charger. The Wi-Fi access password can be found on the side of the charger.
- Some phones might ask you at this point if you would like to auto-switch to the best network. Please reject this prompt.
Step 2 - connect to charger backend
- Once connected to the network, open your phone's browser, enter 192.168.4.1 into the URL bar and press enter. This will take you to the charger configuration page.
- For Cord Zero: If asked for a password enter the pin on the side of the charger, or the pin number that was created during installation. If you have forgotten this pin number, reset the charger by holding the reset button on the side of the charger for 30 seconds. This will reset the password to the initial Wi-Fi password used on installation - this can be found in either the user manual or on a sticker on the side of the charger.
- For Cord One: Password should be "admin123".
- Tap ‘login’
- If the webpage is not accessible, please reboot the charger’s power.
Step 3 - change OCPP access point
- Tap ‘Network Settings’
- In the field "OCPP endpoint URL" delete the current URL and please enter the updated URL as follows: wss://ocpp.powerverse.com:443/
- Note you do not need to enter the charger's serial number after the /
- Click "CONFIRM." You should see a "Configuration successful" message.
- The charger will now reset automatically & the charger app will log you out.
- If the charger does not reset automatically please manually reboot it by turning off and on at the main breaker switch.
Step 4: -
- Download the new Cord app from your app store by searching for "Cord EV"
- Open the app and follow the sign up process.
- Please note it may take 15-30 minutes for the charger to register with the new app.
- For Cord One users - the app will automatically update the charger firmware to the latest version. It will not be possible to charge the vehicle until the firmware update is completed. Please note that the charger will reboot and may take a further 15-30 minutes to reconnect.
Important messages & how to avoid failed charging sessions:
- For Cord Zero "untethered" users, if you use the "cable lock" function to leave your charging cable connected, please be aware that you must unplug the charging cable from both the car AND the charger for it to successfully start subsequent charging sessions. We are working on a firmware upgrade to fix this issue.
- For Cord One users - the app will automatically update the charger firmware to the latest version. It will not be possible to charge the vehicle until the firmware update is completed. Please note that the charger will reboot and may take a further 15-30 minutes to reconnect.
- We recommend testing the new app at a time when you are not reliant on a full charge. This is just in case of a failed charging session on first use. Unfortunately Cord cannot be held liable for any consequences of a failed charging session.
- Please also note that if you are migrating from the previous app, all historical charging data will be lost. Please ensure you have saved all data you require.
