Video home surveys - what you need to know

Your video survey will be conducted by our trusted partner, Charged Electric Vehicles Ltd (ChargedEV), who have been specially selected by Cord to complete the survey.

It will take between 15 - 30 minutes to complete.

Prior to the survey, you will receive a text message with a link to enable the video survey.
During the survey: -
- We’ll need access to your electricity equipment, gas/oil equipment (if applicable), and water stopcock.
- We kindly ask that you ensure these areas are clear and accessible to help us complete our video survey swiftly and cause as little disturbance as possible.
- We'll be able to answer questions relating to cable routing & preferred charger location. Some more technical questions or complicated installations may require us to refer your video call to a specialist team member.
Avoid unnecessary additional costs - useful advice!
- The most common additional cost is gas/oil and water earth bonding. It is a legal requirement that this is in place for an EV charger, and we have to provide photo evidence.
- If our video surveyor cannot locate evidence this is in place, we have to assume it is not, and will need to install at an additional cost. Whilst we will help you to look where this is most commonly found, we recommend trying to locate this in advance of the survey. Please read our guide.
What happens next?
- Keep an eye on your inbox. Once we've finished your survey, we'll review it and you’ll receive an email detailing the next steps, including any additional costs related to any further work needed.
- Don’t worry, we’ll only perform additional work if we need to, and will happily issue a full refund if you choose not to proceed at this stage.
