Setting up this Cord charger

For installers. Two apps and a quick checklist get this charger commissioned and handed over. If anything misbehaves, the troubleshooter below sorts most issues in minutes.

1

You: download EVChargo

EVChargo (the green "E" logo) is the installer and commissioning app. You'll use it to commission the charger and connect it to the platform.

Download EVChargo on the App Store Get EVChargo on Google Play

Always set the platform to "Cord", even if the customer is joining Octopus Intelligent Go or another smart tariff. A wrong or empty platform is the most common commissioning miss, and it leaves the customer's app disconnected. Any issues using EVChargo? Use the troubleshooter below.

2

The customer: download the Cord app

Ask the customer to download the Cord app and register with the charger's serial number (uppercase SN). It's their app for schedules, charging and insights.

Worth telling the customer: the first charge can take up to 10 minutes to start (a regulatory delay), and it's normal.

Before you leave

  • Charger is online: Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only, split or disable 5GHz on combined routers) or 4G. Alternating green and yellow means no server connection.
  • Platform is set to "Cord" in EVChargo.
  • Customer is in the Cord app, registered with the serial (uppercase SN).
  • Tidy up and clear all rubbish: it leaves a lasting impression on the customer.

Common commissioning issues

Always set the platform to "Cord", even if the customer is joining Octopus Intelligent Go or another smart tariff. A wrong or empty platform is the most common commissioning miss: everything looks fine on site, but the customer's Cord app shows disconnected.

That means no server connection: the charger is powered but not online. Connect it to Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only, so split or disable 5GHz on combined routers) or to 4G.

Guides: connect to Wi-Fi · connect to 4G

  1. Reboot the charger at the breaker or isolator, then put your phone in airplane mode with Wi-Fi ON and join the charger's SN100… network within 15 minutes of power-up.
  2. Browse to 192.168.4.1 and log in (Cord One: admin123; Cord Zero: the installation PIN).
  3. Open Network Settings, clear the OCPP endpoint field and enter exactly: wss://ocpp.powerverse.com:443/
  4. Do not append the charger serial number to the end of the URL: that's the most common mistake.
  5. Tap Confirm. You should see "Configuration successful" and the charger resets itself; if not, reboot it at the breaker.
  6. Allow up to 5 minutes, then check the charger shows Online.

This pattern appears when the Smart Meter option was switched ON during commissioning but no supported meter is connected: the charger is waiting for meter communication it can't find.

  1. Reboot the charger at the breaker and join its SN100… Wi-Fi within 15 minutes (airplane mode ON, Wi-Fi ON).
  2. Browse to 192.168.4.1 and log in to the charger backend.
  3. Turn the Smart Meter option OFF, confirm and let the charger reboot.

Download the Cord app (7kW wall chargers only, portables have no app) and register with the charger's serial number, entered with an uppercase SN. Pair the RFID keyring and leave both cards with them: pairing guide. And let them know the first charge can take up to 10 minutes to start (a regulatory delay).

EVChargo (green "E") is for installers only: commissioning and connecting the charger to smart tariff platforms. It is not for scheduling or day-to-day charging. The Cord app is the customer's app for everything day to day. Monta is our legacy app: customers still on it should switch to the Cord app.
