FAQ
Can I get a home electric vehicle (EV) charger if I rent the property?
Yes! You’ll need the landlord’s permission, but if you rent a house or a flat you can get up to £500 off the cost of the charger through a Government OZEV grant.
How fast can I charge my EV at home?
The speed at which you can charge your EV at home will depend on the car (the maximum rate of charge it can accept), and the charger. Most homes can charge a car up to 7.4kW - or more simply, overnight whilst you sleep. Cord wallbox EV chargers are 7.4kW and Cord portable EV chargers are 2.3kW.   It can be faster to charge a car using a public charge point as these use a different charging method (DC), typically not available from a home. Use the handy lookup tool on our website to find out how fast you can charge your car here.
How long does it take to install an electric vehicle (EV) charger?
Typically it takes a few hours to install an EV charger. We complete either an in-person or virtual home survey in advance of the installation to ensure the electrician has everything they need on the day for a smooth installation.
Is the installation available nationally?
Installation is available everywhere in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
What's included in the Available Car offer? Can I combine with another discount?
The offer is a discount for Available Car customers  towards the cost of a Cord EV charger and installation.     The offer is subject to our terms and conditions of sale. Your contract of sale is with Cord Power Technologies Ltd. You will own the EV charger.   The Available Car discount can not be combined with any other offers.

 * We complete most installations within 2 weeks, however this is dependent on your home survey and installer availability in your area. During public holidays such as Easter & Christmas installations may take longer. In some instances prior approval or additional electrical work is required by your DNO (distribution network operator) which is out of our control.
